Cartographical Curiosities

Septentrionalium Terrarum Descriptio. Gerard Mercator, Duisburg, 1595

A final cartographic post for the day: the Yale Map Collection is running a very impressive exhibition right now that features the most innovative or fantastic maps in their holdings. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. The image above is described as “the first separately printed map of the Arctic”.
